EUCALYPTUS SHOWER

It is said that hot shower steam can activate and release eucalyptol, a terpenoid oxide isolated from eucalyptus species that makes up 90% of her oil, for health benefits such as decongestion. It is true, from traditional knowledge and scientific research, that eucalyptol can be a useful aid for dandruff and blocked sinuses (you can read more about her HERE).

From experience, in my shower at least, it does not have that effect. Even in our bathroom, which is on the smaller side and gets very steamy, fresh and dried leaves give a hint of eucalyptol but not enough for a therapeutic dose. Instead we dot eucalyptus around our apartment to connect us back to nature, spiritually and emotionally. The visual aid is a soothing and comforting reminder that we are never too far from Mother Nature. A wonderful mental medicine, especially first thing in the morning.
